Since I had the Raspberry Tart DSP out I decided to keep using it for these next few cards. I am really loving the pink and green combos in this paper pack, and I’ve let it lead me on my card making adventures!
Up first, a card with no sentiment, sometimes I send “just because” cards. I added a color with a blender pen, highlighted flower with Crystal Effects.

From 2009 cards

Specs:
cardstock: Regal Rose, Whisper White
stamps: Sweet Stems
DSP: Raspberry Tart
ink: Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss
accessories: blender pen, stamping dimensionals, Crystal Effects, Pretty in Pink 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon, 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8 circle punches

Up Next, card using my other new favorite, the Fundamental Phrases set. How did I stamp before I had this set? I also just got the word window punch, it kills me how long I was
carefully cutting out little words and phrases! Funny how the simplest thing can really change how you create.

Specs:
cardstock: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
stamps: Sweet Stems, Fundamental Phrases
DSP: Raspberry Tart
ink: Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Barely Banana, Black Versa Mark
accessories: blender pen, Pretty in Pink 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon, word window punch, wide oval punch

Finally, mixing in the Friendly Words Wheel with the Itty Bitty Backgrounds. I rolled the wheel once with Regal Rose and then on Kiwi Kiss stamp pad. Then I cut out the “kindred spirits” phrase, applying Crystal Effects and a dimensional. Pretty simple, fun card. I could see having a bunch of these in different hues on hand as a just because, get well, congrats, etc. I really love this new wheel, it worked really well to roll onto a stamp pad then apply to card stock. The entire length of the wheel is at least 5 1/2, enough to go on a horizontal card.

Classy & Fabulous Stamp

On the top of my list was the Classy and Fabulous set and the Friendly Words wheel from SU!’s new catalog. Yesterday I finally got them inked up!
First up features the main image of the Classy and Fabulous set and the Friendly Words wheel as the background. I stamped the main image w/versa mark and water colored it in. In order to highlight a phrase from the background, I applied Crystal Effects to one of the phrases.

Next up is a funky green polka dot card using the shopping bags and one of the sentiments. A little different than my normal card.

One of the plastic butterflies fell off of my little girl’s barrette so I thought I’d use my felt flowers and a button to fix it. This is probably not a new idea, but it was fun and my little girl thought I was a hero for fixing her barrette!

From 2009 cards

I layered the flowers and button on top of the barrette. There was a hole where the butterfly had been so I used it to sew the flowers to the barrette. I think in the future I might sew first then use a strong adhesive like E6000 to attach it to the barrette. I’m also thinking of sewing a bunch of flowers and ribbons to some plain jeans to make them more interesting for a girly-girl!

Here’s my take on the challenge, trying to use up my rub-ons from last year SU, salabration! Wasn’t sure I could make these colors work but I think it turned out pretty good!

I’ve been in a card making mood lately, playing with all of sorts of stamps, inks, ideas, paper. Really I’m trying to use up some of the DSP from the current catalog and holiday mini along with a few pre-cut cards. After reading this post by Mary I was inspired to make my own little pizza box. I’ve played with the dimensions to make it fit other little cards I’ve been making, but for this project I followed the tutorial on Mary’s blog. All Supplies are Stampin Up!

Then I made a little variety of 3×3 cards (my favorite size) using a few different stamp sets.

So, got my 8 calendars done. I always end by saying never again, but in October of the next year it will seem like a good idea. Plus it’s such a hit with the family that I have to do it. Tried to keep the layouts simple and use what I had on hand!
Here’s a couple of the pages.

From Christmas 08
From Christmas 08

I made 4 mini albums out of some cute albums I’d picked up a year ago. I made a few decorations, but kept it pretty simple. Tried to do the photo a day for a mini book like Ali but it got to be a hassle and I decided to let it go. There were other things I wanted to make that I just didn’t get to and that’s okay. With working a lot of nights and weekends I really didn’t have a lot of extra time so I made the choice to let a few things go, not put as many decorations out, and not feel guilty for my choices. The kids did get non-handmade items and that’s okay. I got an iphone for my hubby which I shouldn’t have let him do but I love it so I’m keeping it. He had a med. size box as the starting point of my scavenger hunt to find what my real gift was.

From Christmas 08

He saw the tags I’d cut out w/the cricut and asked for a dozen of them. Then he asked me to show him my stamp stuff so he could make a few cards. He was seriously adorable trying out the inks and stamps, and punches. He made a card for each of the twins and one for me. So very sweet. No wonder I love him!
The tags he used as clues on my hunt. They took me all over the house, upstairs and downstairs.

From Christmas 08

And ended at his desk in our shared office where my iphone sat. It was so sweet that I cried. This was even better than jewelry!

In the end we had a pretty good Christmas, the twins could have had one gift each and been happy. I know I’m incredibly blessed with the sweet family I’ve been given!

From Christmas 08

Should post a few pics soon. Am finishing a few mini albums for gifts and that’s about it. Time got away from me and other things took priority. As for my twins? It’s not really handmade, it’s more like china made. I caved, got some things for them, but tried to restrain myself a bit. The Disney princess collection might be over the top, but I’m sticking with it!
